Wildflower is known the world over for its festival like atmosphere, challenging courses and some of the happiest volunteers on earth. It has been named “The Woodstock for Triathlon”, “The best triathlon in the world”, “Triathlon back to the basic roots”, “The Christmas of Triathlons”, “Better than Ironman”, and many more. It is also known as the “One and Only” Wildflower as there is nothing else like it in the world. There have been many wonderful comments by some of the greatest triathletes in the world and we are humbled to hear them. For many athletes this event is on their bucket list of places to compete, for others it is a yearly celebration of their commitment to a healthy lifestyle and for others it is a place for family and friends to get together for fellowship. No matter how you look at it Wildflower is a “can’t miss” event.
Each year we enjoy loads of exuberant fans. Some of our longtime friends sit along the course and cheer from beginning to end…some of the real crazies crack out the cowbells (and who doesn’t need more cowbells, really?) and even dance as athletes stream past them. Remember these same people are glued to their cell phones all week so cutting loose is a welcome change to their lives. Everywhere you look people are having fun. Triathlon clubs are able to camp together, friends from all over the country meet up to share a nightly bonfire and families spend some quality time out in the fresh air.
There is something for everyone. You can do the Long Course Triathlon (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run) The Mountain Bike Triathlon (.25 mile swim, 9.7 mile mountain bike, and 2 mile run) or the Olympic Distance Triathlon (1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10k run). Or if you want you can do the Wildflower Squared (Long and Olympic) event.
Wildflower is an experience more than just a race! Grab your bike, pack the tent and load the family in the car, 2014 is going to be a year to remember. Can’t wait another second to sign up…we thought so!
